Kenneth Karanja: Chairman
Kenneth Karanja was born and raised in Nakuru, Kenya. He attended Kilimo Primary and Moi High School - Kabarak for
his elementary and secondary schooling, respectively.
He then proceeded to the U.S.A to attend college at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore where he graduated
with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Food and Agricultural Science. Subsequently, Kenneth graduated from the University
of Minnesota with a PhD in Molecular Biology.

Getiria Onsongo: Vice-chairman
Getiria Onsongo attended Nakuru High School in Kenya before proceeding to Mahindra United World College in
India where he obtained his International Baccalaureatebefore Diploma. He then moved to the United States for
further studies earning a Bachelors degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Macalester College in
St. Paul Minnesota and a Ph.D in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota. He is currently an
Informatics Analyst at the Minnesota Supercomputing Institute in Minneapolis, MN.In addition to volunteering with
non-profits such as KSAA, Getiria enjoys playing sports and is an
avid squash player.

Karanja Gichane: Secretary
Karanja Gichane graduated from the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication with a diploma in journalism in Kenya
before moving to the USA. He attended Hennepin Technical College and graduated with an Associate degree in Video Production.
Having worked extensively with nomadic tribes in Marsabit and Moyale districts in Kenya, Karanja witnessed the plight of
marginalized communities including high illiteracy levels and lack of basic necessities. This experience entrenched his
belief in helping educate needy children.

Wycliff Mokaya - Treasurer
Wycliffe Mokaya was born and raised in Shauri-Moyo Kenya. Attended St. Paul's High School-Kevote. He then moved to
the United Stated and enrolled at Anoka -Ramsey Community College in Coon Rapids, MN.
He graduated with an Associate Degree in nursing. He is currently pursuing Bachelors in nursing at Augsburg College
in Minneapolis and works as a nurse at Fairview Southdale Hospital.
Naftali Kokiro
Naftali Kokiro
I attended Huruma primary in nairobi then went to Mbita high school for secondary education.
While at Mbita high school, I witnessed one of the brightest student in form two drop out of school
due to lack of school fees. This made me have a passion to support needy students get an education.
I was blessed to come to U.S.A in 2009, which gave me an opportunity to attend Brown college and
graduated with an associate degree in graphic design.
James Makau
James Makau
James has been a member of KSAA since 2009 and continues to dedicate his time and knowledge to support KSAA's mission.
He has worked and volunteered with several nonprofits that include; American Red Cross (Twin Cities Chapter) and Fairview
Health Services. He holds a B.Comm in Business Administration/Management from Daystar University Kenya and a Masters degree
in Nonprofit Management from Hamline University St. Paul MN.
Raymond Mauya
Raymond Mauya
Born and raised in Kenya, Raymond schooled at Mosocho Academy and Cardinal Otunga for his primary and high School.
For advanced studies, he attended Hennepin Technical College and Minneapolis Community College where he obtained an
Associate in Electronics Degree and General Studies respectively. Raymond further pursued under-graduate and graduate
studies in Electrical Engineering both from the University of Minnesota.
Currently, Raymond is based in Minnesota and Works as a Project Manager for Xcel Energy Services INC.
Simon Muigai
Simon Muigai
Simon Muigai attended St Joseph's Seminary Molo for high school. He then earned a civil engineering degree from
Kenya Polytechnic before moving to Minnesota where he earned an achitectural designs degree at Hennepin Technical College
Minnesota. He currently works at Staples Print Solutions. Making a difference in this world is what inspires him to
volunteer with KSAA.
Patricia Nzioka
Patricia Nzioka
Following her graduation from Alliance Girls High School in Kikuyu, Kenya, Patricia moved to Baltimore, MD
where she earned her Bachelors in Mathematics and Masters in Electrical Engineering from Coppin State and Morgan State
Universities respectively.
Patricia enjoys traveling as well as working in ministry and volunteering with non-profits. She is currently pursuing
her MBA at the University of Minnesota and works as a Six Sigma Black Belt at Cummins Power Generation in Minneapolis, MN.
